Preschool Bible lessons will assist you in opening 4 and 5-year-old minds to the wonder and glory of God. The compilations below include important lessons for children, using scriptures taken from the Old and New Testament.
Using 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "pray continually" and Colossians 4:2 - "Devote yourselves to prayer" along with Ephesians 6:18 - "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests" you can teach children about having a one-on-one relationship with God. After explaining the passages, assure them that God wants to talk to them, and that they can pray at any time. Use an image of a child kneeling by his bed to pray as a visual. This is an easy lesson, and should only take about 30 minutes.
This is one of those preschool Bible lessons that children really enjoy. Scripture suggested for this lesson is Psalm 100:2 "Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful song". With this lesson, examples of different ways to worship could be suggested, such as singing praises, helping others, being obedient etc. This could even be used as an activity for the children to come up with their own ways of worship. This lesson should take about 20 minutes.
Jesus feeds 5,000 is another of those great preschool Bible lessons that teach children that God will provide for them. Suggested scripture is John 6:48 "I am the Bread of life" as well as John:6: 5-13 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. Explain that no one had enough food or drink to share, nor did anyone have enough money to help feed the crowd, so Jesus provided. This lesson should take about 25 minutes.
This lesson shows children how God watches over all of them. Begin by reading Psalm 115:11 "All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield." Explain that God never sleeps, so he is able to watch over us and protect us all the time. Also use Psalm 5:11-12 "But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield." This lesson should take about 25 minutes.
These preschool Bible lessons are best suited for ages 4-6 but can be adjusted to fit almost any age group, as they are important fundamentals in our relationship with God. They can also be demonstrated through snack time and age appropriate crafts and activities. Always remember to make it enjoyable and the children will learn.
